Course Description
A study of all aspects of fundamental organic chemistry, including nomenclature, chemical & physical properties, reactions & syntheses of the major classes of organic compounds. The study includes theoretical aspects, reaction mechanisms, and multistep syntheses.

Rules & Requirements
Prerequisites: CHEM 10; or AP chemistry with a grade of 4 or higher; or other equivalent chemistry courses (subject activity - chemistry, with a grade of A or higher; etc.). For students majoring in chemistry or a closely related field such as chemical engineering or molecular and cell biology.

Course Description
The Series is intended for majors in chemical, physical, biological sciences, and engineering. It presents the foundation principles of chemistry, including the atoms and elements, the periodic table, chemical bonding, molecular structure, ideal and real gases, solutions, solids, chemical thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, acid-base & solubility equilibria, oxidation-reduction reactions & electrochemistry, coordination chemistry, and modern chemical experiment methods. Examples and applications will be drawn from diverse areas of interest such as atmospheric, environmental, materials, polymer, and biochemistry. This is a full-time online course.

Rules & Requirements
Prerequisites: High school chemistry with a grade of A- or higher; high school physics (with a grade of B or higher) and calculus (may be taken concurrently) are recommended.
